JAMIE-LEE GRADY
The Industrial Revolution initiated a disregard for, and destruction of, the Earth on an unprecedented scale, which continues to this day. I have a growing interest in environmental conservation and as our planet rapidly warms and its ecosystems are increasingly at risk, I am keen to preserve in the still image natural sites threatened by man.
HS2 Crosses Here explores areas of the Chilterns that will be negatively impacted by the proposed High Speed 2 railway. HS2 will cause significant CO2 and noise pollution running at 250mph with up to 28 trains per hour; high intensity noise and vibration induces fear in animals which can force species to abandon their habitat. Consequently, plants and trees that rely on birds and other animals to pollinate and spread their seeds are badly affected for decades, even after the noise subsides.
