“It’s so easy to miss the person and see a stereotype instead...”
People are great subjects to photograph because there are no two alike.
This project’s aim is to use the photographic medium, to produce work that focuses on the positive representations of people with disabilities. In our current society, cultural influences and stigmas often restrict and limit opportunities for people who have disabilities. Challenging negative representations by highlighting the positive attributes that these people have by focusing mainly on the idea that a person with a disability has an identity outside of that label. This form of representation is highly personal and it’s important to approach this with sensitivity.
