Sophie’s work is an exploration of botanicals and the affection she has towards plants and flowers. The work has stemmed from growing up with a father and grandfather who encouraged her to spend time in the outdoors as well as teaching her about plants and their environments. The project focuses on both Sophie’s fascination with the details, patterns and colours of botanicals through macro photography; and also the places in which her understanding of plants grew through documenting the spaces she associates with her knowledge of plants. Thus creating a project that is able to portray the relationship she has with botanicals and their correlation with her childhood memories of time spent in the garden.
